CINCINNATI, OH — Eric Conroy for Congress is calling on Steven Erbeck to immediately come clean about the source of the $400,000 he has funneled into his congressional campaign.
This week, Steven Erbeck launched a self-funded TV advertising campaign. Meanwhile, Erbeck has failed to file a mandatory personal financial disclosure with the Clerk of the House of Representatives — now more than six months overdue. Federal law requires candidates to disclose their finances. Erbeck is refusing to comply. The question Republicans in OH-01 need to ask is: WHY?
Erbeck claims to be a successful small businessman. But the 32-year-old works for his father. He isn’t raising real money from donors. Yet somehow, he’s pumped $400,000 in personal loans – after tax money – into his campaign. Where is that money really coming from – Steven or illegally from his family?
“Steven Erbeck doesn’t live in the First District, won’t file his disclosures, can’t raise money from donors, and is flooding this race with highly questionable personal loans. Is that really his money or is it his dad’s?” said Conroy’s campaign manager Evan Nash. “Erbeck’s spending isn’t the sign of a winning campaign. It’s a red flag. Republicans need to know the truth before it’s too late.”
OH-01 is one of the best Republican pickup opportunities in the country. Control of the House could come down to this seat. If Erbeck somehow buys the primary and then gets shredded in the general over a criminal scandal—and Democrats will absolutely dig into his shady loans—Republicans lose the House. And a Democrat-controlled House means one thing: impeaching President Trump.
We can’t afford that. Erbeck needs to come clean now. His vanity project can’t come before the country’s future.
